Cumulative Back Injuries

If you have sustained an injury to your back arising as a result of your system of work then you may be entitled to claim compensation, even if your injury did not arise as a result of a single accident.
Employers have a duty to ensure that all employees who are required to carry out any type of lifting are adequately trained and that all work stations and equipment are assessed to ensure that they are safe.
In order to succeed in a claim for cumulative back injury it is necessary to establish that the system of work was unsafe and that this led to the injury developing.
Such unsafe systems of work would be repeated bending and lifting and working in awkward postures.
