Martin is a founding member of Howe + Co and its senior partner. Martin has over 30 years’ experience working as a solicitor and specialising in social justice cases.

He has been involved in numerous cases of national importance including the Myodil class action for compensation against a leading pharmaceutical company, several House of Lords (now Supreme Court) cases on immigration matters, representation before the Independent Monitoring Commission (the ceasefire watchdog in Northern Ireland), the Olympic Missiles case and the case for settlement rights for veteran Gurkha soldiers (working alongside Joanna Lumley).
Martin was a founding member of the Gurkha Justice Campaign which gathered enormous national support for the plight of veteran Gurkha soldiers eventually turning around their position by a combination of legal action, parliamentary lobbying and press and public support. He also has acted successfully for traveller families against the Metropolitan Police in compensation claims for injury and damage to property arising out of the Lynton Close raid in 2007.

Notable achievements
Martin is an elected member of the Council of Liberty (the National Council for Civil Liberties) and in 2012 was elected to serve on the Board of Directors of Liberty as an Executive Member. He is a recipient of the Ross McWhirter Award for his campaigning work and twice has been a runner up for the Human Rights Practitioner of the Year Award. Furthermore, as a member of the Gurkha Justice Campaign, Martin won the prestigious Human Rights Award from Justice and Liberty in 2009.
